Janel Claire Hudson, a bright, inspiring light

August 23, 2021

Janel Claire Hudson returned to her true home in heaven Monday, June 14, 2021.

Born April 26, 1978, Janel  graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1996.  She attended James Madison University in Virginia and graduated summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University with degrees in marketing and business.  Following graduation, Janel was awarded an internship at the corporate headquarters of Home Depot.  She was married and resided in Florida.

Janel obtained her Florida real estate license, a degree in floral design and worked at the American Heart Association.

Upon her return to Delaware, she worked with her father, Joseph Hudson, to establish the Hudson soccer fields, which hosts sporting and fundraising events.

Janel was an accomplished equestrian, enjoyed the beach and writing poetry.

Baptized in 2004 at the Lewes Church of Christ, Janel was active in the recovery community and was a courageous soldier who never gave up hope.

A bright light and an inspiration to many, Janel was known as “Sparkle Plenty” by her dad and will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.  She was loved by many and is missed by her family and friends.

Janel left behind her mother, Christine, and father, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Couchman, Scotton and Hudson families.

Funeral arrangements were private.  The family suggests that those who would like to further honor Janel’s memory consider a donation to a favorite charity in Janel’s name.
